The TCR International Series

Great racing with a growing popularity

The TCR International Series is an international Touring Car championship founded by former World Touring Car Championship boss Marcello Lotti. It´s has grown largely popular due to it being a cost-effective spin-off of the WTCC, targeted at C-category tin-top racing cars. The title TCR follows the naming convention now used by the FIA to classify the cars that compete in touring car racing.

The TCR rules are largely based on the SEAT León Cup Rules, where the cars have relatively simple technology and most standard parts. The cars have turbo motors of around 300 horsepower, few aerodynamic devices and use a system of performance balancing, including penalty weights. In addition to the TCR main championship, most national championships have taken the TCR principles in 2015 and 2016.

The 2017 TCR International Series is the third season of the TCR International Series. Stefano Comini enters the season as defending double champion, with Craft-Bamboo Racing defending teams' champions.

WestCoast Racing veteran driver Gianni Morbidelli explains the competition’s greatness.
– I have been involved in motorsport as a professional racing driver for 25 years now, during which time I have seen virtually everything. When Marcelo Lotti told me about the TCR, I was immediately very interested. The philosophy is perfect for me, as, together with its various national offshoots, the series offers more than 100 races around the world.

Furthermore, the costs are manageable, the cars look great, and they are relatively evenly matched, thanks to the Balance of Performance. And, last but not least, the racing is of a very high standard. We have a lot of exciting battles out on the track, he says.
